In The Beginning...The Community Garden

December 7, 2012                                       First Workday!

Today, 50-plus enthusiastic gardeners gathered to begin development of the newly established Sun City Peachtree Community Garden. Rakes were flailing, shovels were prodding and poking, rock filled buckets being dumped, and the construction crew was hard at work making those beautiful raised beds. The chief designer stayed busy getting the raised beds carefully placed. In all, the first forty raised beds were completed. It was a thing of beauty!

The only downside...expect some sore muscles in the morn.

"Experts", building planting bed frames.

The "muscle men" toting planting bed frames.
The "engineers" carefully placing our FIRST planting bed.
Forging ahead....only 39 more planting beds to go.

The "check-in" lady.

We removed HOW MANY ROCKS from the garden site???

Mr. Tiller prepares soil for grass seed outside the fence. So the deer have SOMETHING to eat.

Fence Installation - We Found "Little Stone Mountain" on One End of Site!

The fence installers arrive...this should be easy and quick.

Oops! This is solid rock! Not as easy and quick as we thought!

Enough rock drilling. We're gonna move this fence.

November 11, 2012        Bobcat Work - "Tweaking" the Grade

Smoothing the soil...getting ready for farming.

A little pile of real "topsoil" will help.

August 29, 2012         Initial Clearing and Grading of Community Garden Site

As soon as we can get this red truck outta' here, we can start!

Finally, the clearing and grading begins.

This is EXCITING! Our Community Garden site...all cleared and graded.
